Vail AZ is a growing community located in Pima County. Vail is
approximately 22 miles southeast of Downtown Tucson, AZ and
only about 15 miles from the Tucson International Airport and Davis-Monthan AFB.
The community is named after Walter L. Vail who owned the Empire Ranch
in the late 1800’s. The ranch has been preserved as the Las Cienegas National Conservation Area.

The setting for Vail includes gorgeous views of the Rincon Mountains and local attractions
such as the Cienega Creek Natural Preserve and the Colossal Cave Mountain Park. Vail is in
an unincorporated part of the county and is known as a census-designated place. Due to recent growth
the 2000 census data is not very current. The primary zip code for Vail AZ is 85641
and the area is served by the Vail School District. To visit Vail drive east on I-10 from Tucson
and take the Colossal Cave Road exit (#279.) Drive north about 2 miles and you will be in Vail.
